CARLA FERNANDES

THE FOUNDER

Carla helped her parents run R&H Liquors upon matriculating. What started as a holiday job for Carla blossomed into a career in the liquor industry. She worked her way up from a telesales consultation, to become a procurement manager.

R&H Liqours was sold to Super Group & Carla became the Regional Operations Manager, the feeling of the family business dissipated and Carla realised the coprorate world was not part of her vision. She quit her job in June 2016, and set her sights on starting a liquor store, with an intuitive and welcoming browsing experience while offering her customers a wide range drinks including international and local brands.

Liquor industry legends!

Upon returning to South Africa in 2000, Alda & Amaro opened a liquor store in Bellville. They quickly expanded the store and re-branded to become R&H Liquors. They became the first liquor distributors in the Western Cape, supply a range of over 500 restaurants, hotels, pubs, and clubs.

The business was sold to Super Group and after 15 years in the business they decided to retire – but as it turns out, it wasn’t going to be forever. Now, Alda Fernandes is Bar Keeper’s Minister of Finance & Amaro is hot on the pulse to find the best deals on drinks and About Bar keeper.
