Soul Barrel Soul Shine Wet Hop Pale Ale

Soul Shine is an American Pale Ale brewed with South African and American Cascade, an iconic American hop famous for its grapefruit and pine notes.  For a time years ago, it was the most widely grown hop in the world.

To brew this seasonal “wet hop” beer, we picked South African Cascade fresh from our beer garden then added them  within 2 hours of harvest.  This technique infuses the beer with an incredible spectrum of delicate hop aroma compounds that are normally lost in drying.  The result is a pink grapefruit, red berry, green herb, pine sap flavour profile, with a layered complexity to its beautiful hoppiness, followed by a crisp hop finish.

Like all great beers, Soul Shine represents a sense of time and place, of season and growing conditions, making it uniquely South African.
